Black Hills Expedition

After a series of costly losses, and the recent succesful raiding of several high value tools and materials, Breshik decided upon a more forceful expansion into Lakota territory. Previously the long term plan was to leap frog outward bases into Lakota territory from the connecting land bridge, creating a strong enough presence to overwhelm the previously nomadic tribes entirely. However, with the increasing premium incurred by undefended builders, Shakomatic commanded his column straight into the Black Hills, crossing the Sutland Channel into enemy territory.

After the raid on Karak Sakor, mutestory remained behind while his compatriot sped to stow away the loot. Dwarves were lining up in the courtyard where Tocktact had been slain, although they had no immediate enemy to fight. This led the scout to only one conclusion: the enemy was planning a push into Lakota territory.

Within the dwarven chat, Tocktact was furious at yet another succesful raid, with Shakomatic eager for a conquest of the opposing side's island. With that Shakomatic decided upon an immediate crossing of the Sutland, despite night falling rapidly.

Mutestory sat atop his man made tree/tower, searching for any signs of incoming dwarves. They were spotted crossing onto a small island off the land bridge connecting the two nations. Both Sick_Sector and Mutestory lobbed arrow shots in the hopes of some early hits, to no avail. The dwarven brigade charged through the hail of arrows towards the tree, readying dirt to quickly scale it's branches. They surrounded the tree, leaving mutestory stranded while Sick_Sector could only lob more arrows helplessly from his nearby tower. As Shako and Aineas attacked from the front, Tocktact began scaling the rear of the tree in hopes of a surprise attack. However, Sick_Sectors endless arrows became increasingly effective, and soon all but Tocktact had fallen. Tocktact engaged Mutestory 1 on 1, out of Sick_Sectors range, and defeated him in close counters duel. Unfortunately, Sick_Sector had come within range to the weakened Tocktact, and finished him off, leaving the spoils of war on Lakota territory and summing a victory for the Lakota.

With such a small and unreliable army (raiding parties were rarely larger than 3 men) and basically no defense force, the Lakota knew they could not stand a constant engagement with the Dwarves. They took the matter to Kurwa, who had guaranteed their independence upon their nations creation, and asked for the promised alliance in times of war. Kurwa agreed, and, raising an allied force consisting of the Western Islands and Batt.x, would soon enter the final battle of the war, The Three Hours' War.
